Prize Schedule

Grand Prize is $200-500 in Mega ticket credits and automatic First Prize qualification to the contestant with the most points at the end of the season.  The exact amount of the Grand Prize depends on the number of total predictions received between weeks 1-16, at a rate of $0.15 per prediction, with a minimum of $200 and a maximum of $500.

(10) First Prize winners will have a chance to win $10,000 by guessing the halftime and final scores of the professional football championship game in Miami, FL on 2/2/20. First Prize winners will be determined as follows:

(1) season winner
(0-4) quarterly winners
(5-9) weekly winners with the highest one-week point totals

  • Fans may only qualify for one First Prize attempt. The season winner may not also qualify as a quarterly or weekly winner; quarterly winners do not also qualify as a weekly winner; and weekly winners may only qualify once.
  • Depending on the number of fans who win a quarter and the season (between 1-5), the remaining First Prize finalists (between 5-9) will be weekly winners with the highest one-week point totals who did not win a quarter or the season. In addition, any fan who happens to have posted more than one of the highest eligible one-week totals receives only one First Prize berth.
  • Weekly runner-ups who lost via the the earlier submission tiebreaker do not qualify for a First Prize berth.

First Prize winners are eligible to win the following amounts for the corresponding predictions:

  • Halftime Score Only = $100
  • Final Score Only = $1,000
  • Halftime and Final Scores = $10,000

Quarterly Prizes of $10-25 in Mega ticket credits, plus the opportunity to qualify for First Prize, go to the Contestant with the most points at the end of the respective quarter.  The exact amount of the Quarterly Prize depends on the number of total predictions received in the quarter, at a rate of $0.05 per prediction, with a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $25.

Weekly Prizes up to a total of $50 in Mega ticket credits will be awarded to the week's top five fans based on points earned. If more than five fans tie for one or more positions in the top five, the cutoff is determined by the date and time received of each entry, with the earliest entry qualifying. ONLY five fans will win Weekly Prizes, payable as a Mega Credit proportionate to their percentage of points earned by those five fans. For example:

  • SCENARIO I: Five or more fans predict within three points of at least one team. Fans 1-5 record 100, 80, 60, 40 and 20 points, for a total of 300 points. Fan 1 accounted for 33% of the points and receives 33% of $50, or $17. Fans 2-5 win $13, $10, $7 and $3. Fan 6 also scores 20 points but the entry is received after Fan 5's entry, making Fan 6 ineligible for a weekly prize.
  • SCENARIO II: Between one and four fans predict within three points of at least one team. Fans 1-2 record 30 and 10 points and all others record 0 points. Fan 1 wins $38; Fan 2 wins $12.
  • SCENARIO III: Zero fans predict within three points of either team. (This has happened only eight times in 12 years.) The first five fans who submitted a prediction with the correct winning team receive $10 each.

Point Schedule

Points are awareded in two categories: Differential and Match, with a Winning Team Multiplier applied if you pick the correct team to win.

Differential points are awarded based on your prediction's proximity to a team's actual final score according to the following table:

Differential Points

  • Predict a team's exact score = 25 points
  • Within 1 point of a team's score = 20 points
  • Within 2 points of a team's score = 15 points
  • Within 3 points of a team's score = 10 points
  • Prediction with a differential greater than 4 points from team's score = 0 points
  • If no fan(s) predict within (3) points of either team, fans who correctly picked the winning team receive 5 points.

Match Points

Match Points are awarded for correctly picking a team's score based on the probability of the actual final score according to the following table:

Score Bonus Pts Score Bonus Pts Score Bonus Pts Score Bonus Pts
0 5 17 1 33 5 49 23
2 75 18 10 34 2 50-99 40
3 3 19 3 35 4
4 100 20 1 36 12
5 75 21 2 37 5
6 4 22 5 38 3
7 2 23 1 39 25
8 40 24 1 40 17
9 5 25 7 41 6
10 1 26 3 42 12
11 25 27 1 43 27
12 8 28 3 44 18
13 1 29 7 45 10
14 2 30 2 46 40
15 9 31 2 47 40
16 2 32 13 48 17

Winning Team Multiplier

A multiplier up to 5x is applied to the sum of your Differential and Match points for picking the correct team to win the game. The multiplier is calculated as follows:

  • The number of weekly contestants divided by the number of weekly contestants who picked the correct winning team

For example:

  • Of 100 contestants, 90 pick Team A to win. 100 / 90 = 1.11x multiplier. If you correctly picked Team A and your sum of Differential and Match points is 30, 30 is multiplied by 1.11 = 33.3 total points.
  • Of 100 contestants, 10 pick Team B to win. 100 / 10 = 10x multiplier. The maximum multiplier is 5x. If you correctly picked Team B and your sum of Differential and Match points is 30, 30 is multiplied by 5 = 150 total points.
  • When no fan(s) predict within three points of either team, points awarded simply for picking the winning team are not subject to the multiplier.

Tiebreakers:

  • Season and Quarterly: Most weekly points in the final week of the designated period, then 2nd to last week, etc., then random selection.
  • Weekly Winner: Earliest submission by date & time received, then random selection. Submission times will be posted with Contestant Predictions.
  • Weekly Winner First Prize berth: Highest season point total, then highest Q4, Q3, Q2 or Q1 points, then random selection.

*DISCLAIMER ABOUT SPREAD, OVER/UNDER AND OTHER INFORMATION:

For our blog series entitled "How To Win Our Football Pool", we gathered publicly available information from NFL games dating back to 2006 and combined it with proprietary information about Monday Night Ticket Score fan predictions dating back to 2007. To create relevant sample sizes, we bundled data about all games within one point, either way, of a particular spread or over/under. Due to limited sample sizes, we do not show data from games with larger than 16 point spreads. The spread and over/under are dynamic, market-based 'lines' used by bookmakers to encourage equal betting on both sides. Generally, they are originally derived from expert, analytical study of games; but, ultimately, they are more a reflection of public betting preferences. For the sake of consistency, we provide the lines from sports books as published by www.espn.com; lines from different bookmakers can vary. We represent current odds, lines and our findings to be accurate to the best of our knowledge and reserve the right to add, modify, or withdraw information at any time and for any reason.
