Sports betting and the future of fantasy sports changed with the recent Supreme Court ruling enabling states to permit sports betting, but the 2018 Monday Night Ticket Score (MNTS) is still free and now open! Sports fans and anybody who likes to win stuff will love it, because you can score free tickets by predicting the Monday night game's final score - and have a chance to win $10,000!
If You're New to the Pool
That's ok! Most sports fans do not consider themselves to be experts and don't dive deeply into the advanced statistical data available today. But the Monday Night Ticket Score is accessible to all levels of sports fans. In the pool's 11 year history, there have been 11 different season champions, 37 quarterly winners (out of a possible 44) and 121 weekly winners (out of a possible 176).
But the pool's outcomes are not totally random, either. It's wise to know which team is favored to win and by how much, so we provide that information and encourage use of our interactive tool which shows the win and cover percentages of teams in comparable NFL games since 2006. There are also incentives in place to encourage upset picks and infrequent NFL scores.
Ultimately, the odds of correctly picking one team's score are about 16-to-1. Of the 29,000+ individual team score predictions submitted by fans since 2006, they have correctly picked a score 5.6% of the time.
What Can You Win?
The season winner scores up to $500 in free tickets, quarterly winners score up to $25, and the top 35% each week score $1-5. 10 fans will emerge from the 2018 MNTS to play for $10,000 during the 2019 Super Bowl, and one of those finalists from the 2016 MNTS won $1,000.
Changes to the 2018 Pool - Including an 11th Chance to Play for $10,000!
In addition to credits for all pools in 2018 now being the more valuable Mega credit, we made small changes to the point structure, added Bonus Prizes, and are offering an 11th chance to play for $10,000!
For a complete scoring explanation or an outline of how the 10 fans to play for $10,000 are chosen, please refer to our 2017 pool preview or How The Pool Works.
Differential Points
In 2018, the number of points for close predictions (differentials between one and four) have been increased up to 38%. This should incentivize fans to occasionally choose a riskier final score, such as 18 instead of 17. If a team scores 17, this year a one point differential is worth 20 points; last year it was 12.5.
Match Points
The point values for an exact score match have been updated based on a larger set of prediction data and simplified by eliminating 10ths of a point. They'll more accurately represent the risk/reward with each score pick.
Bonus Prizes
The top five fans each week qualify for (10) credits redeemable in FireFan.
Additional $10,000 Berth!
This fall in FireFan, we'll conduct a separate, optional Monday Night Ticket Score league using FireFan's unique pre-game and in-game predictions. One participating fan who registers points in the league leaderboard at any time during the season will be randomly selected to play for $10,000 in February, 2019.
What the 2017 Pool Champ Says
"I'm super thankful I picked with my heart in the Dolphins / Pats game - I took a chance and it paid off! As a native Floridian, I always root for my home teams and sometimes believe they can pull off the upset. I'm a regular at live sports and music events and love these fun contests! I'll be sure to keep telling people to play!" - fan gina5091, who won $220 in tickets as the Monday Night Ticket Score champion and $500 cash as the 2017 Mega Pool champion
The MNTS is also the final contest in the 2018 Mega Pool, which features its own $250-500 prize.
So now is the time to play! If you're on Twitter, follow @TheMegaPool for pool updates, tips and reminders or @SecondTicket for ticket news, information and basic pool announcements.
